Terms of service

The rules for booking and travelling with ShareARide, in plain language.

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use the ShareARide website and app to search for, book and manage intercity coach tickets in Botswana. By making a booking or creating an account you agree to them.

ShareARide is a booking platform. The coach journey itself is provided by the coach operator named on your ticket (“the operator”), and the operator’s conditions of carriage also apply to your trip.

2. Using ShareARide

  • Give accurate details for yourself and every passenger you book for, including a mobile number you can be reached on.
  • You must be 18 or older to create an account or pay for a booking. Younger passengers can travel on a booking made by an adult.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for bookings made through your account.
  • Don’t misuse the service — for example by making bookings you don’t intend to use, reselling tickets, or trying to interfere with the site.

3. Bookings and tickets

  • Each seat has its own booking reference. A ticket is valid only for the passenger, departure, date and stretch of the route shown on it.
  • You can book up to three seats in one booking.
  • A booking is confirmed once payment is received. If you choose to pay at the counter, your seat is reserved but your ticket is not valid until it has been paid.
  • The conductor checks every ticket. You may be asked to show identification that matches the passenger name. The operator may refuse travel on a ticket that is unpaid, invalid or used by someone else.

4. Fares and payment

  • Fares are in Botswana Pula and are priced for the stretch of the route you travel. The total, including any travel cover, is shown before you pay.
  • Online payments are processed by our payment partners (such as mobile money providers and card processors). ShareARide does not store your full card details.
  • Fares are set by the operators and may change, but the price of a confirmed booking will not change.

5. Cancellations, changes and refunds

  • You can cancel a booking from My trips at any time before the coach departs. Guest bookings can be cancelled by contacting us with the booking reference.
  • Whether you receive a refund, and how much, depends on the operator’s refund policy and the payment method used. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method where possible.
  • Tickets cannot be changed to another date or departure online. Cancel and book again, or contact us.
  • If you do not board a departure you have booked (a “no-show”), the ticket is normally not refundable.

6. Delays and cancellations by the operator

Operators aim to run every departure on time, but schedules can be affected by road, weather, mechanical or safety issues. If an operator cancels a departure, we will help you move to another departure or arrange a refund of the fare for that journey.

7. Travel cover

Travel cover is optional and offered at checkout for a per-seat fee. It is provided by our insurance partner and its own terms, limits and exclusions apply. To make a claim, contact us with your booking reference.

8. At the rank and on board

  • Arrive in good time — we recommend at least 30 minutes before departure. The coach may leave without passengers who are late.
  • Follow the instructions of the driver and conductor. The operator may refuse travel to anyone who is abusive, intoxicated or puts others at risk.
  • Luggage allowances and rules for carrying goods are set by each operator. Look after your belongings; report lost property to us as soon as possible.

9. Our responsibility

We take care to show accurate departures, seats and fares, and to keep the service running. The operator is responsible for the journey, the coach and its crew. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the consumer laws of Botswana, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Your information

We use your information to make and manage your bookings, as explained in our Privacy policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to a booking is the one published when you made it. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana, and the courts of Botswana have jurisdiction over any dispute.
